Great panel discussion and morning session! I’m interested in learning how blended learning can be combined with project-based learning. If anyone’s doing this sort of thing, let me know!
We are part of the CCIU consortium BVA but we are also looking to build internal capacity to bring blended learning to our students in a very integrated way.
Understanding the definition between Hybrid, Blended, and what I’ll call, True Cyber is vital in defining the goal of a program. What Tom shared was helpful in defining the different terms. Hybrid is the environment, Blended is how it is delivered, and Cyber is using someones curriculum and content.
Really informative. I’m from Penn Delco School District and we are in our 2nd year of implementing a cyber learning program for either blended learning or for students who are full time cyber students. It has not been the easiest transition. I monitor the students, their progress, and act as a liaison to parents, guidance, admin and our IT department while also supporting these students in a “study hall” environment and teaching 2 face to face courses. I feel that our district could gain a lot from learning how to “bridge the gap” when kids leave and then come back.
I like the idea of having more control over the curriculum provided to your kids. In my district we struggle with curriculum when we have students come from or go to a cyber curriculum, in regard to bridging the gap in content.
